Executive Director

Amos Nugent III, a native of Sacramento, CA, is a graduate of the Howard University School of Business where he received his B.B.A. in Finance in May 2007.  Driven by his commitment to empower the community and a passion to foster economic equality, Amos has spent the last six years working tirelessly to spread financial literacy abroad.  From organizing money management lecture series, to facilitating workshops on how the discipline of business can be used to benefit the community, to presenting seminars and forums that strategically outline the importance of developing a plan in order to achieve debt freedom and financial independence, Amos Nugent III possess a breadth of experience in the financial education arena. 

Much of the work that Amos does today is rooted and grounded in his humble beginnings as a college student seeking to enlighten minds at Howard University and within DC metropolitan community on the causes and effects of poor financial habits.  Upon his to return to Sacramento in the summer of 2007, Amos decided that it was necessary to expand upon the work that he had begun in college right here in his own home town because he noticed that many of the same financial troubles that plagued the residents of the DC metropolitan area also plagued residents of the Sacramento metropolitan area as well.  So, in October 2008, Enlightened Minds Group, Inc. was formed in response to these conditions.  Currently, Amos serves as the President of the Enlightened Minds Group, Inc.

As an avid student of his profession, Amos takes tremendous pride in any opportunity to continue his education and expand his expertise in order to best serve his clients with the utmost proficiency and care.  Amos also understands the importance of continuity in the relationship-building process.  Therefore, Amos has obtained several designations and credentials that enable to offers financial educations services in many different capacities:
  • Career Technical Education Credential, Business and Finance (California Commission on Teacher Credentialing)
  • Life-Only Agent (California Department of Insurance)
  • Variable Contracts Agent (California Department of Insurance)
  • Series 6 and 63 Securities Licenses (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) 


Finally, some of Amos Nugent’s most noted accomplishments and activities include that he was named as one Sacramento’s “30 Under 30” most promising young business leaders by the Observer Media Group (The Sacramento Observer), and that he was selected to be in the inaugural class of the Nehemiah Emerging Leaders Program (NELP) – an honor that only 16 candidates were selected to receive out of 150+ initial applicants.  In his spare time, Amos also serves his community in several different volunteer capacities that span a wide variety of organizations:


  • Member, Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Tour Planning Committee
  • Member, Concerned African American Parents (CAAP), the parent-teacher organization at Laguna Creek High School
  • Member, Greater Sacramento Urban League Young Professionals
  • Lead percussionist, True Holiness Church
