About Us

Enlightened Minds Group, Inc. is a non-profit organization that combats financial illiteracy and childhood obesity by serving as a resource and an advocate for community wellness.  Enlightened Minds Group, Inc. was founded in 2008, and here is a brief snapshot of what the organization has accomplished:

  • 2008 – Partnered with American River Bank to produce the following results:
  1. Received sponsorship funding in excess of $6,000 to host a county-wide money management initiative
  2. Compiled a beginners money management curriculum aimed at teaching low and moderate income families successful budgeting, saving and investing strategies
  3. Identified churches, schools, and community organizations throughout the Sacramento region to host month-long workshops for their constituents and for residents living in the surrounding areas
  4. Organized and Facilitated a 6 month lecture series on money management that spanned multiple venues
  5. Implemented a grassroots publicity strategy to serve approximately 50 people each month at our workshops 


  • 2009 – Partnered with the Californian North Central Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. to produce the following results: 
  1. Compiled a money management curriculum on “Maximizing the 90%” for church leadership and laity to instruct them in developing creative strategies that will improve their financial condition during turbulent economic times
  2. Identified local churches across Northern California from Sacramento to the Bay Area as epicenters to host month-long workshops for their parishioners and for people from surrounding churches as well
  3. Organized and Facilitated an 8 month workshop series on money management that spanned multiple venues
  4. Implemented a grassroots publicity strategy to serve approximately 40 people each month at our trainings 


  • 2010 – Partnered with multiple organizations to produce the following results:
  1. Prepared an online learning platform for youth and young adults called “Financial Fitness for Teens” in order to teach them financial literacy concepts from an age-appropriate perspective in partnership with the Nehemiah Community Foundation
  2. Established an opportunity for teenagers in the Sacramento region to receive federally-subsidized college savings accounts that will match student contributions 2:1 for every $1 they save in partnership with the California Coalition for Rural Housing
  3. Established a financial literacy program for more than 100 teenagers in the Sacramento region where they learn money management while they earn income through the sale and distribution of fresh fruit and produce in partnership with Gerber Jr./Sr. High School.
